And Ladies of the Club - Helen Hooven Santmyer
Oh, this book is a brick. In paperback it's 1400+ pages - two protagonists are eighteen in the first chapter and in their 80s at the end. The story centers around a women's club formed in a small Ohio town, a place for local women to show involvement in society and political matters. If you knew absolutely nothing about American history between Andrew Johnson and Herbert Hoover, you get a lesson here. The characters are rather white-bread so don't expect much diversity. Still, if you love historical fiction it should be on your bucket list.
