Review

I heard good buzz on this story and decided to read it. I'm glad I made the choice; Glitterland is a contemporary story about a novelist (Ash) with a history of depression and deeper problems who engages in a torrid fling with a laid-back male model (Darian). On the outset they seem like a mismatched couple - it's definitely an issue later in the story - but when they connect physically it's real and seems to help Ash.Glitterland is a compelling read - dramatic, poetic, and vivid. I liked how Hall told the story through Ash's voice. Be warned, though, of Darian's Essex "accent". Some readers may find that a distraction, but I didn't mind the "fanks" for "thanks," etc. I find it brought Darian's voice to life.
