Review

Will try not to spoil too much of the book, but as the blurb states: this is the story of a girl who suddenly develops the ability to detect emotions in the food she eats. Like others who have reviewed the book here, I felt the author didn't give Rose, the protagonist, much to do with this gift. It seems like a sub-plot in a drawn out story of an emotionally detached family growing up in California. It reads a bit like The Lovely Bones if Susie hadn't died. Rose seems to watch everybody gradually drift and is powerless to stop it.Intriguing premise, but ultimately not a favorite.
