Iron & Velvet - Alexis Hall
Iron & Velvet - two substances that represent strength and sensuality, and in some sense are interchangeable. It's an appropriate title for a book that combines two genres - the hard-boiled PI story with a wild paranormal ride - that mesh well in this environment. Kate Kane is hired to investigate the murder of a paranormal being - she comes to the case with much baggage and picks up more along the way. Entanglements with vampires and mages and werewolves (oh, my) complicate the investigation, which Kate sees to the end with self-deprecating humor.

Kate's narration of the action provides many moments of dark amusement and raw sexuality. Recommended if you enjoy either genre.
